About New Forest Fishing & Shooting School.
The New Forest Fly Fishing and Shooting School was founded by Ian Thew who lives deep in the heart of the New Forest which is situated on the South Coast between the mighty rivers Test and Avon and offers the ultimate in fishing and shooting possibilities. Our objective is to provide the very best in fly fishing and clay and game shooting for both the complete novice or the experienced sportsman and to this end we extend the opportunity to learn new skills or to hone existing expertise over a wide range of disciplines.
We take pride in providing instruction and coaching in all aspects of fishing and shooting to the very highest of standards and we take care to ensure that when our pupils leave us they will have been well versed in both safety and etiquette and will thus be able to move on in their selected sport with personal assurance and confidence.
Ian Thew is a qualified fly fishing coach and a qualified shooting instructor and, in addition to running the New Forest Fly Fishing and Shooting School, he writes regular features on all aspects of shooting, fishing and country sports related topics for magazines such as the Shooting Times and the Countrymans’ weekly.
He is also a qualified deer stalker and over the past forty years he has amassed a unique and widespread knowledge of most rural activities from fishing to ferreting and just about everything else in between.
He has to hand a team of coaches and instructors, all of whom hold a government recognised qualification in their respective disciplines and who have undertaken a child protection workshop, a criminal records bureau check and a first aid course.
